Auction Forty Fives: A Trick Accumulating Game

Auction Forty Fives is a free game available on iPhone developed by Matt Kelly. In this game, the objective is to accumulate as many tricks as possible and surpass a score of 120 to win. The game features different ranks for trump suits, such as Spades and Clubs with 5 as the highest rank, followed by J, A, K, Q, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Hearts have a similar rank, while Diamonds have an additional A rank. Plain suits like Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds have their own rank hierarchy as well.

The game starts with a bidding stage where players can hold or make bids depending on their role as the dealer. The player who receives the bid can call trump, which allows them to determine the strongest cards. During the discard stage, the player who called trump receives a kitty with 4 extra cards and can discard accordingly, while the other player can only discard their existing cards.

During gameplay, each player must follow suit if possible, and if trump has been played, players can choose to play any card they like if they cannot follow suit. The Ace of Hearts is a special card that ignores trump rules, except when trump is Hearts, and can be strategically played to maximize trick-taking potential.
